Lesley Grainger
Abstract Artist, Lesley Grainger is originally from Yorkshire, England and currently resides in Southern California with her family. She received a B.A. First Class Honors degree in Illustration from the University of Lincoln. Early in her career she worked as graphic designer and later began to produce children’s books and licensed artwork. For the last ten years she found her true passion in abstract painting, now her work is collected worldwide. She also teaches art classes online. Lesley has a beautiful studio in San Juan Capistrano and showcases her art in galleries and her online store.
Using her intuition each painting translates to the next, with an ongoing story. Color is a boundless part of her process, seeking to explore color combinations that intrigue the senses and reveal something unexpected. Exploring is key in Lesley's expression, as she works with the canvas, adding and removing elements, layering textures, paint and mixed media. Lesley believes art can change the way we think, the way we feel and the way we connect with the world.

“The Spirit has been whispering to me all these years to create, explore, discover, learn, question and allow. My creative journey has been about discovering and passionately working to find my authentic self through the exploration of abstract painting. Not focusing on the outcome but rather, being in the moment, each color I choose and mark I make, allows me space to feel the painting. Tangible layers of paint, collage and hidden messages. Arbitrary marks and shapes, no rules and imperfections allows the outcome to be authentic and relatable.
It doesn’t always have to make sense, listen and allow possibilities to unfold.”
